The BBC Needs You!

There are a number of training schemes that the BBC already run in departments moving to Salford Quays which are open to people from a range of backgrounds. They’re a great way to get a foot in the door and gain invaluable support and training – providing you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to continue successfully on your chosen career path.

The BBC wants all their teams to reflect the many backgrounds and life experiences of the people who make up their audiences, so whilst some of their schemes are aimed at everybody, They have some that are targeted at those from specific parts of the community that may be currently under-represented within the media or our organisation.

The key thing for all trainees on BBC schemes however, is that they have a passion and an interest for working within the media and want to be part of the BBC and believe in their values. So if that’s you and you find a scheme that you’re interested in – we really hope you’ll apply.

All trainees on the schemes below are paid, unless otherwise stated.

The BBC will update the information under each of the schemes, when they have news on application dates, so please do keep checking back.

Advanced Apprenticeship in Media Production
Media Foundation Placement Scheme (MFPS)
BBC Mentor Project
Journalism Trainee Scheme (JTS)
