Acting for Camera Workshop

This workshop is for actors who are serious about the craft of acting for the visual media, as a profession. It is aimed at actors who have done some acting on stage or on camera before (i.e not absolute beginners).

The course will deliver a director’s perspective on working with the camera and an actor’s perspective on unlocking performance for camera. It will outline best methods to achieve this, as well as outlining common pitfalls to avoid. Actors’ performances will be recorded and reviewed.

Tutors:
ANNE MCCABE, TV Drama director, who has directed actors Brendan Gleeson, Gabriel Byrne, Liam Cunningham, Maria Doyle-Kennedy, and has directed TV drama across a range of genres- soaps, series and singles, as well as TV movies.
SARAH O’TOOLE, Actor, Director and Lecturer in NUIG, trained in Moscow in the Stanislavski and Michael Chekhov techniques, worked in Dublin, Glasgow and London. Also specialises in comic improvisation.
Dates: 10am – 5pm, Saturday, 22 January AND 4 Thursday evenings, 27 January, 3, 10, 17 February (7pm – 9pm).
Fee: €225 unwaged/€255 waged (includes membership to Galway Film Centre for the year). Limited to 8 places.
